In Mr. Arnold’s High School classroom, students explored British imperialism in India through a reader’s theater lesson examining the positives and negatives of European colonization in the 19th century.
With a playful, fictional storyline inspired by British pop culture—including nods to the Beatles and the Royal Family—students brought history to life by reading different character roles. There were plenty of laughs along the way, proving that meaningful learning can be engaging and fun! #oneEA

🎶 A once-in-a-generation musical experience is coming to East Aurora Middle School! 🎶
On March 18th & 19th, world-renowned composer Brian Balmages will be working directly with our Middle School instrumental musicians—an opportunity made possible through a generous grant from the East Aurora Education Foundation.
Mr. Balmages has been commissioned to write two original pieces inspired by East Aurora’s history, culture, and community:
🎼 The 5/6 Band piece depicts the historic covered horse racing track and the legendary sire Mambrino King.
🎼 The 7/8 Band piece captures the moment when industrialization and the Roycroft movement collided.
During his visit, Mr. Balmages will rehearse with students, conduct the premiere performances at the concert on March 19th, and lead a composition master class for students, faculty, and community members—offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the art of music composition.
Commissioned for ensembles from elementary through collegiate levels, Mr. Balmages’ expertise is truly world-class. These original works are dedicated to the students, staff, and community of East Aurora, and we are incredibly grateful to the East Aurora Education Foundation for making this extraordinary experience possible.

In this hands-on science lesson, students explored how the brain processes information from our senses. By testing their focus with a one-eye viewing activity and measuring reaction time with a ruler drop, they learned how quickly the brain receives signals and sends messages to the body.
Engaging, interactive lessons like these help students better understand how their brains work—one experiment at a time!

Parkdale Elementary Library students dove into an important digital literacy lesson 📚💻 They learned how to evaluate news sources, spot untrustworthy information, and think critically about what they see online.
To put their skills to the test, students even created their own fake news stories—using a story-writing outline to understand how misleading content can be crafted.
Mr. Duff does an amazing job teaching digital literacy throughout the year, helping our students become informed, thoughtful consumers of information and preparing them for the world around them. #oneEA
