Due to the impending weather forecast, the East Aurora Middle will be dismissing today at 2:00 pm followed by the High School at approximately 2:15 pm. Parkdale Elementary will dismiss at it's regularly scheduled time.

Due to the impending weather forecast, all EAUFSD after school and evening activities have been cancelled for today, January 13th.
Today, High School students were fortunate to be visited by John Improta, education coordinator at the Buffalo Zoo, and his assistant Rosemary. He arrived with live animals and biofacts from the "Zoomobile" and created a lesson specifically catered to Latin students that touched on Pliny the Elder, gladiatorial games, Roman geography and history, and Latin scientific names. He showed students a live exotic millipede, snake, chicken, and parrot, as well as a lion pelt, tiger skull, elephant foot, zebra pelt, ostrich egg, cattle horn, rhino skin, and more.
The lesson was fantastic, extremely in depth while at the same time accessible to all the students. John did a great job engaging with everyone. The students loved the lesson and learned a ton.
He also informed the high school students of volunteer opportunities like the Life Science Career Lab program which is a great opportunity to really learn and get a foot in the door for multiple STEAM fields.

This past week, East Aurora Middle School student council members organized stockings to donate and deliver to the Rural Outreach Center (ROC). During the visit, students learned about the various services the ROC provides to the community and had the opportunity to tour the facility, gaining insight into its mission and operations. This experience helped students connect with local outreach efforts and understand the importance of community support!
