East Aurora Latin Club Takes on Buffalo! 🏛️🐅
Monday, our students braved the chilly weather for an incredible educational adventure! We started at Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House to dive into stunning architecture and local history, and then headed to the Buffalo Zoo to put our Latin and scientific knowledge to work learning about the animals' names! 🤓

A massive thank you to:

-Chaperones Karen Fallon and Kate Hannon—this trip wouldn't have happened without you!
-The wonderful staff and docents at the Buffalo Zoo.
-First Student transportation.
-Our supportive administration.

We had a blast learning outside the classroom!

Students from Mrs. Herraez's HS Spanish level 4 and 5 classes celebrated Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos with our fourth grade students at Parkdale this past Monday. HS Spanish students held six different workshops teaching the fourth graders about the Mexican holiday traditionally celebrated on Nov 1 and 2. Students decorated sugar skulls, learned Spanish Vocabulary, colored masks, read a story about the holiday, made decorative papers and much more!

For the last few weeks, 8th-grade Technology have been working through the design process on their Halloween Slat Project! They demonstrated awesome hands-on skills in designing, cutting, sanding, and assembling their festive creations.

But the real treat? The students produced 200 extra projects and shared them as gifts with teachers, administrators, and staff across the entire district. Watching our students realize the impact of their hard work and the joy of giving was the perfect, rewarding end to this assignment.

Students have been busy designing and building their own wooden Halloween decorations — from concept to final creation. They start with detailed sketches and measurements on paper, then bring their ideas to life using band saws and sanders to cut, shape, and smooth their designs.

Along the way, they’re gaining real-world skills in design thinking, precision measurement, tool safety, and problem solving — all while adding a little spooky spirit to the classroom!
