Universal Pre-Kindergarten

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible?
For the 2024-2025 UPK school year, children who reside in the East Aurora Union Free School District attendance area with birthdays between December 2, 2019 and December 1, 2020 are eligible to apply for the program.

Where is the program located?
The East Aurora Union Free School District (EAUFSD) offers UPK at its Parkdale Elementary location.  These are full-day placements (approximately 9:00 am - 3:00 pm), 5 days a week and follow the EAUFSD calendar.

What are the obligations to families (cost, transportation, etc)?
There is no cost for the program.  The program is paid for through a Universal Pre-Kindergarten grant.  Transportation will be provided to and from school.

How are children selected for the program?
If more children apply than there are available openings, there is a computerized “lottery.”  Anyone who has completed registration by the deadline will be eligible for the lottery.  Children are randomly selected for the program.  Selection is not based on academic or economic needs.  All children are equally eligible for participation.  Registering for the UPK program does not guarantee you a placement.

Is there wrap-around care available at each UPK site?
There is no wrap-around care provided for students enrolled at the Parkdale location.

What is the timeline?
We anticipate that the application process for the 2024-2025 school year will open in mid-January.

If necessary, we will conduct a lottery to be held by the end of March 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year.  Families will be notified via mail of the lottery results.

How do I apply?
Pre-registration for the 2024-2025 school year is open. Follow the step-by-step instructions on the district's registration page.
