Signs That Your Child May Have Speech and/or Language Difficulties

Your child could require speech and language support if:

  • He/she began speaking later than expected

  • Performing below expectations in the classroom

  • Trouble following directions and/or understanding others

  • Trouble expressing thoughts, feelings and ideas

  • Trouble with learning to read and write

  • Listeners have trouble understanding the child’s speech

  • Your child may avoid communication or misunderstand social cues

  • Your child may become frustrated during communication exchanges

If you are concerned that your child may have speech and/or language difficulties you are encouraged to talk to your child’s teacher to see if he/she is noticing any of the same concerns. Additionally, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of our SLP’s to gain more information!
