The East Aurora Educational Foundation is a 501c3 not for profit organization that exists through the generosity of donors, with a mission to enhance students’ educational experiences by funding grants for programs within the East Aurora School District. Since January 2009, the Foundation has awarded $33,278.94 in grants for projects in the East Aurora schools. At the May 2010 meeting of the East Aurora Educational Foundation, Inc. the directors voted to approve funding in the amount of $13,997.40 for a proposal submitted by high school art teacher, Thomas Kegler.   Funds were used to purchase software for a project that will expose high school students to professional visual art software in numerous art courses while addressing New York State standards.

Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection (containing Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier, Flash, and a variety of other programs) has been installed on new Macintosh computers, purchased by the district, in the art department’s newly updated state-of-the-art computer lab.  Students will learn how to create professional layouts, digital photo manipulations, high-end videos, animations, and digital illustrations by meeting the visual challenges present in Video Study and Editing, Animation and Cartooning, Design, Photography 1 & 2, Studio in Art, and Studio in World Art-International Studies courses.

In 2002, a $50,000 grant from the foundation established the original computer lab for the High School art department.  Foundation President, Peg Fletcher said, “The Directors of the East Aurora Educational Foundation are pleased to continue support for this worthwhile project that has, and will continue to benefit so many students.”

Since it was founded in the late 1980’s the East Aurora Educational Foundation has awarded over $500,000 in grant funding to support projects in the East Aurora Schools.  A not for profit organization, the foundation relies on donations and community support to fulfill its mission: “To enhance students’ educational experiences by funding grants for programs within the East Aurora School District.”  For more information please visit www.eastauroraeducationalfoundation.org.
