    There are changes this year in the Food Service Department which will better serve the students in the East Aurora Union Free School District. Our school meal service will transition to an electronic meal ID system. The system will eliminate the need for the current paper tickets that are often lost. The new procedures described below will start on or about September 7, 2011.
     
    Students will be assigned an ID number. This ID number will stay with the student until he/she graduates. The ID number will be
    distributed later in September 2011.

    When getting off the bus, elementary students will report to the current Lunch/Breakfast ticket area where our staff will receive your
    child’s deposit; then the money will be deposited into their private school meal account. Deposits must be placed in an envelope
    accompanied by the student’s name and ID number. (Please do not write this number on the outside of the envelope.) Keep your
    ID number confidential! If there is more than one student in a family in either school, one student may make deposits to their sibling’s
    accounts as long as you give us the ID numbers of each student and tell us the amounts to deposit to each account.

    Example:
    A $20.00 check……….Bill Doe – Grade 4 #1111 $10.00
                                              Judy Doe – Grade 6 #2222 $10.00
    Check prepayments are accepted and encouraged; simply place your child(s) ID number(s) on the check.  This money will be deposited into their meal accounts. At Breakfast/Lunch, they will simply pick up their meal, punch in their ID number on the keypad card and the money will be subtracted from their account.
    The High School may make a deposit any time
    during the day but we encourage this before homeroom or at breakfast.

    The amount of the prepayment deposit is entirely up to you; it can range from one day to a month, or even a year.

    Question: What will stop the student from purchasing more than the parent allow?

    Answer:
    If this is a problem with your child, simply notify us in writing with your limitations, and we will enter it into the system.
    Example: A student desires to purchase several meals and you only permit one per day, information will be placed in the system and
    we will comply with your wishes.

    If a student’s meal account gets low, our staff will remind them. If the student forgets his or her money, it will allow a negative
    balance up to 3 meals or $3.75.  Money in the student’s meal account at the end of the school year will be carried over to the next school year.

    If your child has a special “food” medical concern, once we are notified of it, this information will also be placed in the system to alert

    our staff to help monitor their meals.

    The School Food Service department believes this will assure the parents that meal money will be used for lunch/breakfast. No one
    will feel any embarrassment when using the National School Lunch Program as no one will be identified as such. This change speeds
    up the meal line because there is little money being exchanged. Students do not have to worry about losing or protecting their money
    and it is an efficient way for us to meet your child’s needs now and in the future.

    There will be some inconveniences in the first few days as the students and staff members become familiar with the new system. If
