    Mr. Brian Russ
    Superintendent of Schools
Welcome back! I hope that you have had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. The first six months in my role as Superintendent of Schools have been very rewarding and I look forward to leading our District as we begin our 126th school year.

We have had a very busy and productive summer and recently concluded the hiring of several new teachers, support staff and a Director of Pupil Services. The roofing project at the High School is nearing completion and our Buildings and Grounds crew have been working very hard to prepare our facilities for our students when they return on September 7th. There have also been several technological advancements including the installation in all building cafeterias of a new system called “Nutrikids”. Nutrikids provides parents with a convenient and secure on-line pre-payment service to deposit money into their child’s school meal account. The system creates greater efficiency and provides our students with a better dining experience.

We have accomplished a great deal and I look forward to continued progress as we begin our new school year. We have recently received our State assessment results which indicate that our students’ academic performance remains strong. I am proud of their accomplishments as well as the hard work of our teachers, support staff and administrators. We will continue to focus on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the State Education Department requirements for a new teacher/principal evaluation process. These initiatives will have a positive influence on instructional practices and will ultimately lead to an even more dynamic and meaningful learning environment.

Although we will once again be facing serious budgetary challenges, I feel confident that by working together we will be able to maintain our commitment to excellence. Our District will continue to offer each student an exceptional learning experience that supports their development as contributing, independent and self-fulfilling caring citizens.

On behalf of the Board of Education, our faculty and staff, welcome to a new school year.
