    FALL 2021
    WEDNESDAY 10/27/21
    Period 8  -  (2:00 - 2:40)
We are excited to announce that on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 the Western New York Consortium of Higher Education will be visiting the East Aurora High School Library during Period 2 to meet with any students that would like information on area colleges and to speak to representatives on a one to one basis.  The Consortium is a diverse group of two-year and four-year, public and private institutions located in and around Buffalo, New York that visit various schools during the month of October.  If a student has availability in their school schedule during Period 2 and would like to visit these representatives, they will need to initially go to their Period 2 class and request a pass to visit these colleges.  It is important to note that this opportunity is for students only.
The Colleges and Universities participating in this visit include:

The colleges that will be in attendance are Alfred State College, Bryant & Stratton College, Buffalo State, Canisius College, Daemen College, D'Youville College, Erie Community College, Fredonia State College, Genesee Community College, Hilbert College,  Houghton College, Jamestown Community College,  Medaille College, Niagara County Community College, Niagara University, St. Bonaventure University, SUNY Fredonia, Trocaire College, University at Buffalo, and Villa Maria College.

As New York State's signature workforce initiative under the Buffalo Billion initiative, Northland Workforce Training Center is an industry-driven, public-private partnership between employers, educational institutions, community and faith-based organizations and state and local government focused on closing the skills gap of the local labor pool and creating economic on-ramps to training, co-ops, internships, apprenticeships, and permanent employment for Western New Yorkers seeking high-paying advanced manufacturing and energy careers.

The vision of Northland is to be the premiere model of a public/private partnership providing education, training and workforce development services that are industry driven and employment focused.

The mission of Northland is to advance the economic well-being of Western New York by developing and maintaining a skilled and diverse workforce to meet the needs of the advanced manufacturing and energy sectors, while providing opportunities to job seekers as well as pathways to gainful employment, career advancement and economic sustainability.

Northland houses two co-located training facilities: the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center and the Utility of the Future & Clean Energy Training Center, to increase the number and quality of local candidates prepared for energy and advanced manufacturing careers. Northland provides for-credit, certificate and degree programs as core offerings through its educational partners, SUNY Alfred State College and SUNY Erie Community College, incorporating evidence-based placement strategies, such as co-ops, apprenticeships and internships, and an emphasis on permanent employment.

The best way to get to know SUNY Erie Community College is to visit one of our campuses. Our staff are happy to show you all that SUNY Erie has to offer.

    Opportunities to connect:

Virtual Academic Unit and Admissions Presentations (Oct. 2-14): Representatives from the Office of Admissions and UB’s schools and colleges will discuss their programs, interesting courses and career options for specific majors. Students are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they like.

Campus Visit (Oct. 16): Students are invited to explore North Campus with a dedicated tour guide.

Virtual Financial Aid and Scholarship Sessions (Oct. 18 and 21): Students will learn about the financial aid process, important information about paying for college and how to maximize their scholarship search.

1.)   Test Optional for all majors

    -       In the past a student was eligible to apply test optional for majors that were not health care majors, and a student had to have above an 86 weighted cumulative GPA. Those restrictions will be lifted for all students applying for Fall 2021.

    -       Deadline: November 2nd, 2020

    -       All majors can apply Early Decision

    -       Daemen Tuition Guarantee for Early Decision applicants: A scholarship will be given for the four years of undergraduate tuition that will offset the rise of any tuition costs.

    -       For our selective majors there was a higher acceptance rate across all majors compared to Rolling Admissions/Priority Deadline

3.)   Priority Deadline for Physician Assistant and Nursing with Erie Community College as the partner school

    -       Deadline: November 20th, 2020

    -       We only accepted a handful of students after this deadline last year into these two programs
