While in Speech Therapy,  children work on a number of skills, not just their speech production skills.  Speech Language Therapy is broken into 5 areas.  They are:

Speech -  Speech is the way our brain and muscles work together to produce the words that we say.

Language - Language is how we USE and UNDERSTAND speech.  The words we use to talk to and understand everyone.

Pragmatics -  Pragmatics is also called "social skills".  This is the way we use our face, body and tone of voice to express meaning to other people.

Voice -   Voice is the way our throat muscles work with our breathing to make sound - aaahhhh!   ....our VOICE!

    Fluency -

WHAT KINDS OF ACTIVITIES DO WE DO IN SPEECH THERAPY?

In Speech therapy, we try to incorporate learning into our fun, not fun into our learning!!!  By using games, books, puzzles, crafts, music and even computer programs, we are able to teach a variety of skills.  We work very hard while having fun in speech.  Stop in and see us in action sometime!  You'd be very impressed with your children working so hard and having fun at the same time.
