The overall goal of the District’s Capital Improvement Project was to address district needs in the areas of building integrity, safety, instruction, and efficiency.  Strict timeline adherence ensures all areas of high concern are addressed while also allowing the consideration of other improvements that will benefit classroom instruction and athletics.  Phase One is wrapping up and we are well underway with Phase Two.

Over the past few months, High School roof updates have been completed including the installation of new skylights.  Improvements were made to our athletic fields and the tennis courts were resurfaced. We are extremely proud of our new artificial turf field, stadium, and press box.  If you have an opportunity to attend a game, we encourage you to come out and cheer on our Blue Devils at the new sports complex.  Images of the revitalized stadium are posted on our website.

Other areas completed during the summer months include much needed masonry work at the Middle School and construction of a new greeter station at the High School.  The latter helps ensure our students safety and presents a positive first impression to building visitors.

The first part of Phase Two has begun at the Middle School with the renovation of the music wing, installation of a new main entrance greeter station on North Grove Street and state-of-the-art STEAM lab.  Renovations will soon begin on the 2nd floor North Wing and the counseling center suite.  The end of the school year will usher in additional renovations to the main office area as well as cafeteria upgrades.   The High School is currently undergoing complete renovation of the physical education locker rooms and fitness training center.  Upon completion,  revamping of the pool locker rooms will commence.  Kitchen, cafeteria and music wing reconstruction will soon follow. Parkdale’s renovations include auditorium lighting/electrical upgrades and air conditioning throughout the building.  Initial work has begun and will be in full swing by the end of the school year.

This Capital Improvement Project would not be possible without the strong support of our administration, staff, Board of Education, and community members.  It is exciting to watch the transformation in progress  and rewarding to witness students enjoying and utilizing completed portions of the project.

We thank you for supporting and sharing in the excitement of this district initiative as we witness it’s continued unfolding over the coming months.
