March 2019 Administrative Update
by: William Roberts
High School Principal
It’s hard to believe we are entering the final months of the 2018-2019 school year. I would like to wish everyone a happy spring! While the weather may not yet include warmer temperatures, green grass and budding trees, we are on the threshold of spring sports and activities at EAHS. The winter season was successful with many athletes performing well in their respective sports. Additionally, actors, artists, and musicians provided the community with impressive concerts and, most recently, the highly successful musical production, Bye Bye Birdie. We are looking forward to building on that excellence in the upcoming spring months.
It is with great excitement that I introduce the East Aurora High School Academic Resource Center (ARC). The purpose of the ARC is to provide academic support to students who need assistance in completing work, improving their academic performance, and gaining confidence in their ability to learn. If a student falls behind in classwork , the ARC will be available to assist them in getting back on track and on top of their studies.
The ARC, located in the High School Library, will be staffed by two teachers and a teacher aide. Open to students between 2:50 – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, the ARC will provide textbooks, Chromebooks, and access to the computer lab to assist students in completing assignments and establishing solid academic standing. In addition, late bus transportation is available daily at 3:35 p.m. A brochure with further details concerning the ARC will be mailed home, and additional information can be found on the High School website.
I would like to call your attention to three major events on the East Aurora High School calendar for March and April. The Prism Concert, featuring our instrumental ensembles, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19th at 7:00 p.m. Our Pops Concert, showcasing the High and Middle School Choruses, will be held in the High School auditorium on Tuesday, April 16th at 7:00 p.m. “Twelfth Night”, the High School Spring drama production, is scheduled for Friday, April 12th and Saturday, April 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the EAHS drama room. Mark your calendars and plan to attend one or all of what promise to be exceptional performances.
Before we know it, the green grass will be back with us to stay. That signifies final exams are just around the corner for all of our students and the graduation for our 2019 senior class. Stay informed about upcoming events and activities by following the high school on Facebook and Twitter. I look forward to seeing you at our performances, athletic events, and concerts and appreciate your continued support of the EAHS.
