East Aurora Schools Community Education has released the late winter/spring term catalog, February 1 - June 30, with dozens of classroom offerings, as well as hundreds of online courses. Courses vary from one night to full term, and some classes begin the first week of February, with others are spaced to start throughout the term.

Several personal enrichment courses can help get you through winter’s dreary days, like Ukulele Basics for Beginners. Ukulele enthusiasts have spanned the decades from Bing Crosby to Elvis to Eddie Vedder, and you can get in on the hot trend with Limelite Music’s Suzanne Sprague, who also will teach guitar for beginners. For visual artists, we have partnered with Designing Dish to offer copper enameling, glass fusing and silver clay technique. Ballroom dance lovers will be happy to know that Iliana Kaneva returns with her popular classes for spring, and Dr. Martha Horohoe returns to lead introductory and intermediate Spanish and French courses.

Afterschool enrichment programs at Parkdale have really taken off, and we have new and returning classes for elementary kids, including the new Let’s Put on a Play! and Theater Games with Mrs. McAtee, where students can explore the use of imagination and creativity through participation in the theater arts. Math skills will be emphasized through Miss Kibler’s popular offerings, Crazy 8’s Math Club®, Mighty Milers® Mathematicians and Math Art: Optical Illusions. CultureKids will return with Spanish for the Elementary Years, with a unique and exciting program features foundation vocabulary introduced through games, singing and fun activities.

High School students can register for one or more sessions of SAT, ACT, Regents and other test preparation classes at EAHS, and also can register for in-car Driver Education or the 5-hour Pre-licensing NYS courses. Licensed drivers of any age can register for the six-hour Defensive Driving – Point/Insurance Reduction course with Ronald Krowka.

Our fitness schedule has something for everyone and every fitness level, with three sessions of yoga two Zumba courses, and our long running Step Aerobics/Circuit Training and Build Your Body to help increase flexibility and strengthen bones.

In wellness offerings, Danielle Cofta will lead her Living Well Naturally Series, including topics like Sleeping Well, Boosting Your Immune, and Natural and Effective Pain Reduction, and Annette DeNies offers Mindfulness topics to improve your life focus, eating habits and healing.

Most of our family finance and planning courses are absolutely free to our resident senior citizens (and very low-priced for younger students), including nine one-night seminars that cover a wide range of retirement planning and assisted living topics.
