   During the phenomenal changes in Europe and the corresponding growth of their over seas empires, the "natives" reacted to this new imperialism to different degrees. Latin America, the Middle East, and China all tried unsuccessfully to resist this new growth, while Russia and Japan adapted and adopted Western ways.
