The Banana-Splits program is a support group for children who have experienced separation, divorce, or remarriage in their family. Through the support of peers, who share common experiences of loss and change, banana-splits helps our students regain a sense of stability and strengthens their ability to cope in a positive way. School counselors guide discussions and activities.
A significant benefit of the program is for students to realize that they are not alone in their experiences and they can learn from each other. It is our intent to strengthen coping and communication skills. As always, group discussions are kept confidential and all students participating are expected to honor this confidentiality. The groups meet on a regular basis throughout the school year.
