Homework Policies

* Homework Assignments are expected the next morning!

* Planners need to be signed EVERY NIGHT!  A signed planner tells me that you are aware of your child's homework and have looked it over.  Thank you!

* Homework assignment should not take more than 20-30 minutes.  If your child is taking more than that amount of time to complete their assignments please sign the unfinished assignments and return them to school the next day.  I will help them and make sure that they have time to finish it here in school.

* Students need to study their basic facts 5 minutes everyday. Even if they don't have fact cards you can ask them orally.They will be tested throughout the school year on all the basic facts. Students should already be fluent/secure with their addition and subtraction facts (0-18) by the end of 2nd grade. Students will begin to learn their multiplication and division facts (0-10) in September and will need to be fluent/secure in multiplication by the end of 3rd grade.
 

*Study for Spelling tests every Thursday evening (unless we have a short week of school).  We will have a test every Friday.  A complete collection of the weekly lists has been given to each child so that they are available at home.  Please keep it in a special/safe place. 
        *Note* Some students may have modified lists.
 
* The district also requires third graders to read on average 15-20 minutes daily.  That does not include the reading we do in school.  Please encourage your child to read every night.
